Burns and Scarring
Burns and scarring do not only affect the body physically.
The pain, potential scarring and disfigurement, and the emotional trauma of being burnt, all add up to a complex condition. Once the physical signs of burns and scarring have disappeared, the psychological effects can last for years.
Fortunately, most people suffer only minor burns and scarring, which do not involve hospital visits. But for those that have suffered serious burns through the negligence of another party, then claiming for compensation should be seriously considered.
There are a number of ways someone can sustain burns and scarring, and most often they happen at work, or in road accidents. Naked flames, burning liquids, or toxic chemicals are the main culprits.
It is also worth noting that, sadly, nearly 50% of people who are burnt are children, mainly from accidents in the kitchen, or being exposed to a too hot bath. So incidents of burns and scarring are not limited to major accidents; they can happen anywhere and with little warning.
Burns and scarring are, unfortunately, facts of life and they need to be treated seriously.
